About

Malcolm Jamieson

Data Recovery Scientist DTI Data Recovery LLC My Background In 2001 I constructed the first clean room for disassembling and reassembling hard drives in Auckland, New Zealand for Computer Forensics NZ Ltd. With the limited resources available at the time, it was a learning process which overtime introduced me to multiple overseas companies sharing proprietary techniques. I soon developed an understanding of system area components, modules and their relation with hard drive repair. Using software developed solely for the purpose of extracting and comparing system area modules for Western Digital and Maxtor hard dives, I invested in exploring the then New PC3000 developed by AceLab. In 2003 I completed the Advanced PC3000 Course in Ottawa Canada. While using Media tools for cloning and repairing partition tables and boot sectors back in the day, I built a firm relationship with David Mohyla of DTIDatarecovery.com  who was the leading distributor of media tools and developers of multiple windows based data recovery softwares. He would soon bring my knowledge and skills from New Zealand to my new home in Florida USA Since 2006 I have been recovering lost data in the United States of America on a daily bases. Backward engineering and researching the fundamentals of hard drive repair for data recovery and performing drive refurbishment has given me the opportunity to handle hundreds of thousands of hard disk drives.

Some Stand Out Achievements

Recovered Peter Jackson’s (Director of the Lord of the Rings franchise) personal failed hard drive. Recovered GPS guidance data off a bent and twisted hard drive from a plane crash under suspicion of being shot down while navigating marijuana plantations in New Zealand. Designed and released the Basereplace tool for maintaining platter alignment and read write head alignment. It has been used by government departments here in the US and overseas along with 30 other data recovery companies around the world. Created 6 port sled for hard drive segregation for the purpose of hard drive refurbishment and repair. See services
